SBU searched the home of a former NABU detective who was digging under the former owner of the OP
On Monday, September 25, the Security Service of Ukraine, together with the State Bureau of Investigation, raided the home of former NABU detective Taras Likunov. The latter was once involved in investigating the case against former OP official Artem Shyl.
The searches at Likunov’s house were reported by the executive director of the Central Criminal Investigation Department, Darya Kaleniuk, on Facebook .
It should be noted that Likunov is the brother of Olena Shcherban, who is currently a lawyer in the case of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Security Service of Ukraine against NABU detective Ruslan Maghamedrasulov.
According to Kadenyuk, Likunov is a former NABU detective who currently works in the internal security unit of Ukrzaliznytsia. He previously exposed the corruption of former top official Artem Shyl. The latter is suspected of serious fraud with UZ funds.
Kaleniuk also emphasized that the search warrant itself did not mention the “investigation into abuses in the Ukrainian Security Service,” which the SBU had previously referred to in its press release. Instead, it only mentions the collection of evidence in the case of the banned People’s Deputy of the Ukrainian People’s Party Fedor Khrystenko, who is being investigated for high treason for collaborating with the Russian Federation.
“The SBU lied again in its official communication. In the search warrant that we are publishing, there is no mention of “investigation of abuses at the Ukrainian State University”, as the SBU stated. And we are talking about collecting evidence in the case against People’s Deputy Fedor Khrystenko,” Kaleniuk explains.
According to her, such criminal proceedings, along with a discrediting campaign in anonymous Telegram channels, are a form of targeted pressure on the Anti-Corruption Center. Now, according to Kaleniuk, the pressure has intensified through relatives.
“Such criminal prosecutions, accompanied by a parallel discrediting campaign in anonymous Telegram channels, are targeted pressure on the Anti-Corruption Center. Our team members are being attacked through their relatives in order to intimidate, discredit, and silence us,” her post says.
We will remind, earlier the Security Service of Ukraine and the Prosecutor General’s Office conducted a large-scale special operation to “neutralize Russian influence” on NABU detectives.
NABU also announced the start of an internal investigation after the Security Service of Ukraine reported suspicions to one of the Bureau’s detectives. He is accused of declaring false data worth over 4 million hryvnias.
