The SBU announced the destruction of two Russian military support vessels and air defense systems in temporarily occupied Kerch. As a result of the drone attack, a large-scale fire broke out on the territory of a shipyard.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to the department, the special operation was carried out by fighters of the “Alpha” unit as part of a 40-day operation to influence Russia, which the Ukrainian military is carrying out according to assigned tasks.
The SBU noted that the project 15310 cable ships “Volga” and “Vyatka”, which were located at the Zatoka plant in Kerch, were hit. The cargo-passenger ferry “Petropavlovsk”, whose readiness was about 96%, was also hit.
“As a result of the strikes on them, a large-scale fire broke out,” the Security Service of Ukraine said.
According to the SBU, the Volga and Vyatka ships were built to order from the Russian Defense Ministry. They were planned to be used to deploy the Harmony underwater surveillance system, as well as to lay sea mines and conduct operations against critical infrastructure.
In addition, Ukrainian drones hit the weapons and radar station of the Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile system, which provided cover for the Kerch Strait area.
The SBU stressed that the strikes on Russian military infrastructure in Crimea are aimed at reducing Russia’s ability to use the peninsula as a logistical and military center. According to the agency, the disabling of ships and air defense systems creates additional difficulties for the Russian group.
As a reminder, on the night of June 26, drones attacked several facilities in Russia and the temporarily occupied Crimea . The Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk, Tula region, was hit, as well as the Kerch district, where local residents reported a series of explosions and the work of air defense. The NASA FIRMS service also records a fire in the area of the deployment of air defense systems (Pantsir S-1) and the airfield.
