Scandal in the National Police: Top Officials Suspected of Covering Up the Porn Industry

Law enforcement officers have uncovered a large-scale corruption scheme in the National Police, related to the cover-up of so-called “porn offices” in several regions of Ukraine. During searches, over 22 million hryvnias in cash, luxury cars, and weapons were seized from the suspects.

This was announced by Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.

According to the investigation, this concerns illegal activities in the Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, and Zhytomyr regions.

It is noted that the heads of regional police units could “ensure the unhindered operation of the network of so-called porn offices.”

According to investigators, pornographic content was created and distributed via the Internet in these premises.

“In exchange for the monthly illegal benefit, police chiefs were supposed to not take any response measures, not document the offenses, and not warn about possible inspections,” Kravchenko said.

The investigation believes that the driver of one of the deputy interior ministers was the intermediary in the scheme. According to the prosecutor’s office, he agreed with officials to “not interfere” in the work of such offices.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the “subscription fee” for the leadership of the regional police was $20,000 per month, with an intermediary receiving another $5,000.

During the searches, law enforcement officers seized six luxury cars, Swiss watches, weapons, mobile phones, and over UAH 22.6 million in cash in various currencies.

So far, five participants in the scheme have been informed of the suspicion. Among them are the chief of police of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, his deputy, as well as the heads of the police of the Ternopil and Zhytomyr regions.

“The goal of the operation is to identify all officials who may have been involved in the scheme and provide a legal assessment of their actions,” the Prosecutor General emphasized.

The investigation is ongoing. Petitions are being prepared for the defendants to take preventive measures.

As reported, in several regions of Ukraine, law enforcement officers are conducting searches in the premises of the main departments of the National Police of Ukraine.
