Roland Garros Shock: Yuliia Starodubtseva Stuns Elena Rybakina

Yuliia Starodubtseva delivered a stunning upset at Roland Garros, defeating world number two Elena Rybakina to secure a place in the third round of the tournament.

The second-round match lasted 2 hours 29 minutes and ended in the Ukrainian’s victory, 2:6, 6:1, 7:6(4).

After an unsuccessful first set, Starodubtseva turned the tide of the game, confidently took the second set, and pressured her opponent into a tiebreak in the deciding set.

For the Ukrainian tennis player, this victory was the highest-rated in her career. In addition, she at least repeated her result from last year’s Grand Slam tournament in Paris, where she also reached the third round.

In the next round, Starodubtseva will play against the winner of the match between American Haley Baptiste and Chinese Wang Siyu.
