Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has proposed that the European Union conclude a deal to buy and sell ammunition from Serbian warehouses, which he says are “overcrowded.” This, Vučić said, could help European security and raises the question of the future purpose of the purchased products.

This is reported by Cicero .

The President of Serbia stated that the country produces a significant amount of ammunition, including mortar shells. Vucic noted that Serbia allegedly produces more ammunition than France and has the ability to supply them to European countries.

When asked whether the Europeans would then be able to transfer the purchased weapons to Ukraine, Vucic replied that they “can do whatever they want with them.”

The head of state also emphasized that his country remains “militarily neutral,” while at the same time ready to cooperate with European armies.

Vučić added that Serbia needs long-term contracts and reported on the already existing military cooperation with partners in Africa and Asia.

The conversation also touched on concerns about Serbia’s ties with Russia; Vučić denied that these ties posed a threat to Europe, reiterating his country’s readiness to supply ammunition to European partners.

By the way, NATO is preparing a new support package for Ukraine . This week, new commitments from allies may be announced within the framework of the PURL program, an international initiative for centralized arms supplies to Kyiv.

As a reminder, Slovenia is officially joining the international PURL initiative, within the framework of which NATO countries finance the purchase of American weapons to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

As reported, the first aid package under the PURL initiative worth $2 billion has already reached the implementation stage.
