At the end of this week, Serbia is expecting a visit from a Ukrainian delegation, which could be led by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
This was reported by the local TV channel N1, citing diplomatic sources in Belgrade.
“If confirmed, this would be Zelensky’s first visit to Serbia since taking office in 2019 and the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. However, given the state of the war in Ukraine, such a visit could be canceled at any time,” the channel reports.
Although there is no official confirmation of Zelensky’s visit to Belgrade yet, diplomatic sources expect that a joint memorandum on a trade agreement will be signed between the countries in the near future.
Serbia and Ukraine aspire to join the EU, so mutual support on this path is one of the factors in bilateral relations.
Before that, leaders of countries met only during international political summits
In particular, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić visited Ukraine only once — on June 11, 2025, he visited Odessa at the “Ukraine – Southeastern Europe” summit.
The summit adopted and signed a declaration condemning Russian aggression against Ukraine. Vučić stressed that he ensured that the document did not contain a call for the introduction of sanctions against Russia.
As previously reported by “Pryamiy” , Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said that the country is preparing for a potential threat from Croatia, Albania, and Kosovo. According to him, Belgrade is closely monitoring military cooperation between these states.
Vucic also stated that the country’s authorities are preparing for a possible development of events.
In addition, Aleksandar Vučić, who maintains friendly relations with Russia , made a one-day visit to Ukraine on June 11. It was his first visit to Ukraine. He participated in a summit held in Odessa.
