Serbia extends gas deal with Russia for another three months

Serbia and Russia have agreed to extend the natural gas supply agreement for another three months. It will be valid until the end of 2026 under the same conditions.

This was reported by the Serbian television and radio company RTS, citing the head of the state-owned gas company “Srbijagas”, Dušan Bayatović.

The previous agreement expired on September 30. Without a new decision, gas supplies under the current conditions would be in question.

According to Bajatović, Serbia will maintain the current “favorable conditions” of supply.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic previously said that the country was buying Russian gas at 318 euros per 1,000 cubic meters. According to him, the market price is about 868 euros.

Before the extension of the agreement, Vučić had a phone conversation with Vladimir Putin. After the conversation, he expressed hope that the gas agreement could be extended.

Serbia is heavily dependent on Russian gas. After a three-year contract expired in 2025, Belgrade and Moscow failed to agree on a new long-term deal. Since then, Serbia has been continuing the current arrangements for short periods.
