The Security Service of Ukraine reported suspicions against Serbian mercenary Davor Savicic, who is suspected of war crimes during the occupation of the Kyiv region in 2022.
This is reported by the Book of Executioners.
According to the investigation, Savichych fought on the side of the Russian Federation as part of the private military company “Redut” and commanded the “Volky” unit. Ukrainian law enforcement officials claim that his group participated in the capture of settlements in the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
“The investigation has collected evidence of the mercenary’s involvement in the cruel treatment of civilians,” the SBU reported.
According to the investigation, in March 2022, in the village of Fedorivka in the Kyiv region, Russian soldiers detained a local resident who was hiding from shelling. The man was taken to the forest, tied to a tree, and threatened with a grenade.
After that, he was interrogated and demanded information about the Ukrainian military.
“When the victim refused to cooperate, he was beaten and illegally held for several days in a pit in the open air,” law enforcement officials note.
Another episode concerns a resident of Ivankovo, who, according to investigators, was kidnapped by Russian soldiers and held in the forest for several days. Investigators say Savichic forced the woman to participate in a staged video for Russian propaganda and threatened her.
On May 22, 2026, the mercenary was officially charged with violating the laws and customs of war. The investigation is ongoing.
As a reminder, an indictment was sent to the court in Sumy Oblast against a Russian serviceman who, during the occupation of the region , ordered a tank to open fire on a residential building . A 61-year-old civilian died as a result of the shelling.
As reported, Ukrainian investigators have identified Russian military personnel and an FSB representative involved in the torture of civilians in the village of Dymer in the Kyiv region during the occupation in 2022 .
