The National Bank of Ukraine has put into circulation a new commemorative coin with a face value of 5 hryvnias from the “Ukrainian Folk Tales” series. It is dedicated to Kyrylo Kozhumyaka, and the coin’s circulation is up to 75 thousand copies.

This was reported by the NBU press service .

The National Bank noted that the new commemorative coin was dedicated to the hero of the Ukrainian folk tale Kyryl Kozhumyaka, who personifies hard work, courage, and fortitude that help overcome evil and protect others.

The coin is made of nickel silver, a white alloy similar to silver. Its circulation is up to 75 thousand copies in souvenir packaging. You can purchase the commemorative coin in the online store of numismatic products of the National Bank of Ukraine and in distributing banks.

The obverse of the coin depicts three plot compositions, separated by ropes, which recreate key episodes of the fairy tale:

  • the craft of Kyrylo Kozhumyaka;
  • children asking for help;
  • enslavement of the princess.

The reverse depicts a scene of Kyrylo Kozhumyaka’s duel with a snake, symbolizing the confrontation of human strength and justice against destructive evil.

The National Bank emphasized that Ukrainian folk tales, passed down from generation to generation, shape the cultural memory and life values of Ukrainians. That is why the new commemorative coin was dedicated to Kyrylo Kozhumyaka as a symbol of the victory of good over evil.

The authors of the coin were sculptors Volodymyr Demyanenko and Volodymyr Atamanchuk, and the artist was Alisa Ivanova.

It was previously reported that the National Bank of Ukraine plans to issue a new commemorative coin with a face value of 20 hryvnias . The coin will be dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence and will be put into circulation in August.
