Russian forces attacked Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, leaving consumers in seven regions — Odessa, Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv — without electricity.

This was reported by NPC Ukrenergo.

“Wherever security conditions currently allow, restoration work is already underway. Energy workers will do everything possible to restore power to all consumers as soon as possible,” the energy company noted.

At the same time, the company emphasized that electricity consumption has decreased. Today, September 17, as of 09:30, it was 2.5% lower than at the same time the previous day, Wednesday.

The reason is sunny weather in most regions of Ukraine, which increases the efficiency of household solar power plants and, accordingly, reduces energy consumption from the general network.

“Yesterday, September 16, the daily maximum consumption was recorded in the evening. It was 1.4% higher than the maximum of the previous day – on Tuesday, September 15,” Ukrenergo reported.

In particular, the department added that active energy consumption today should be postponed to the period of the most effective operation of industrial solar power plants – from 10:00 to 15:00. Please consume electricity economically in the evening hours – from 18:00 to 22:00.
