Severe frost will hit Ukraine on New Year’s Eve: where will it be coldest?

Cold weather is expected again in Ukraine – according to forecasts, the air temperature at night will drop to -16°C.

This was reported in “Unian”.

In the coming days, there will be no severe frosts in Ukraine, and thermometers in different regions will fluctuate between -3°C and +3°C.

However, the first severe frosts will hit on December 31. The air temperature in the East will drop to -7°C, while in the southern part of the country it will still be warm — up to +2°C.

It will get even colder at night. As noted, frosts will intensify to -12°C, and in the northeastern regions – to -16°C.

The beginning of 2026 will remain cold, as frosty weather will persist in most regions: the lowest temperatures will be in Sumy Region and the East – up to -8°C.

On January 2, many regions will be gripped by frost, in particular, during the day the thermometer will drop to -7°C, and at night it will reach -16°C.

The frosts will ease already during the first weekend of the new year. Almost throughout the entire territory of Ukraine, the air temperature will be above zero.

In addition, snow will fall across the entire territory of Ukraine on January 1, which will continue the next day. In some places, precipitation will continue on January 3.
