The European Union and the United States are working on a new strengthening of sanctions against Russia and joint actions against its so-called “shadow fleet.”

This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron during a joint briefing with Volodymyr Zelensky.

He emphasized that the last few months have been a turning point in international support for Ukraine.

Macron stressed that the EU’s partnership with the US and other allies remains key, as it is joint pressure that is forcing Russia to spend resources to continue the war. He singled out recent decisions on sanctions against major Russian oil companies and actions aimed at stopping the “shadow fleet”, which he said finances more than a third of Russian military operations.

The French president also said he hopes to end the war by 2027, but international pressure must only increase for that to happen. He stressed that France will continue to support sanctions and the fight against Russian circumvention schemes.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that future full-scale conflicts could unfold not on earth, but in space .

As a reminder, France announced another package of military support for Ukraine , which includes the transfer of additional Mirage 2000 fighters and Aster missiles.
