On Thursday, April 9, Shakhtar Donetsk will host AZ Alkmaar from the Netherlands in the first leg of the Conference League quarter-finals at the City Stadium in Krakow.

In the 1/8 finals of the Conference League, Donetsk’s Shakhtar easily beat Poland’s Lech Poznan 3-1, 1-2 on aggregate.

In turn, in the previous round of the Conference League, AZ overcame the resistance of Prague’s Sparta with an aggregate score of 6:1.

The Shakhtar previously met the Dutch club back in the 2004/2005 season, in the UEFA Cup Round of 16. AZ won both matches back then, 3-1 and 2-1.

Shakhtar is slightly favored ahead of this match, but bookmakers believe the game will be high-scoring.
