Shakhtar took revenge on Dynamo for the cup defeat: results and review of the central match of the UPL round

In the central match of the 11th round of the Ukrainian Premier League, Shakhtar Donetsk defeated Dynamo Kyiv 3:1. Donetsk took revenge for the defeat in the Ukrainian Cup and strengthened their leadership in the championship.

The match took place on November 2 at the Lviv Arena. Brazilian forward Eguinaldo opened the scoring in the third minute after a corner kick from Pedrinho. Shakhtar controlled the game for most of the first half, creating several dangerous chances near Ruslan Nescheret’s goal.

At the beginning of the second half, the Kyiv team became more active. Vitaliy Buyalskyi had a chance to equalize, but Shakhtar goalkeeper Riznyk saved the team. After that, the Donetsk team again seized the initiative – in the 54th minute, Neverton doubled the lead with a powerful shot into the top corner.

Dynamo responded quickly: two minutes later, Buyalsky scored under the goalkeeper’s hands, reducing the deficit to 2:1 . By the end of the match, the Kyiv team tried to fight back, but in the last minutes, an own goal by Oleksandr Kabayev secured Shakhtar’s victory – 3:1 .

The home team scored Eginaldu, Neverton and Kabaev (own goal), while the Kyiv team scored Buyalsky.

After this victory, Shakhtar not only took revenge for the cup defeat (1:2), but also ended Dynamo’s 42-match unbeaten streak. Next week, both teams will continue their performances in European competitions: Donetsk will host Icelandic Breidablik in Krakow, and Kyiv will play in Lublin against Zrinski from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
