Wisła Kraków President Jarosław Królewski announced that the club will not provide its stadium to Ukrainian Shakhtar Donetsk for home matches in European competitions.
He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
According to Krulevskiy, after several difficult years and a struggle for stability, the club must focus on its own development and the implementation of internal goals.
He emphasized that the interests of Wisła remain the management’s priority, and that organizing additional international matches requires significant resources, time, and personnel, which is currently impractical for the club.
The Polish team’s president also noted that Wisła faces extensive work ahead on brand development, marketing, communications, sales, and fan engagement.
Krulevskiy also drew attention to the sporting aspect of the issue, emphasizing that clubs compete for results, audiences, expertise, and market positions, and that such factors also influence such decisions.
Last season, Shakhtar played its home UEFA Conference League matches in Krakow. Following Wisła’s withdrawal, the Donetsk club will have to find a new arena for its European matches.
