Shelling of Sumy region: Shostka and dozens of villages left without electricity and water

As a result of massive attacks by Russian troops on energy infrastructure, the city of Shostka and 38 surrounding settlements were left without electricity and water.

This was announced on Facebook by the mayor of the community, Mykola Noga.

According to him, the strikes on the territory of the community lasted at night and continued during the day. Energy facilities were damaged, which caused the entire system to fail.

“The city of Shostka and 38 settlements of the community are without electricity. Emergency recovery teams are working! Inviolability points are open! Hospitals are running on generators. Water is also supplied by alternative energy sources,” the mayor said.

Emergency services are currently eliminating the effects of the shelling, and the damage is still being assessed. Community residents are urged not to ignore air raid sirens.

The Sumy OVA reported that over the past 24 hours, Russians have carried out 35 attacks on 19 settlements in eight communities of the region. The largest number of attacks was recorded in the Sumy and Shostka districts.

As a reminder, on the morning of October 2 , Konotop in the Sumy region was left without electricity and water due to Russian shelling.

As reported, on the night of Tuesday, September 30, a Russian strike drone hit a residential building in the village of Chernechchyna, Krasnopil community, Sumy region . A couple with two young sons, ages 4 and 6, lived there. Unfortunately, everyone died. Rescuers recovered the bodies of four people from the rubble.
