Shelves are empty: Ukrainians are buying food in supermarkets en masse
Ukrainians began to buy food and water in stores en masse due to prolonged power outages.
In particular, social media users posted videos showing empty shelves in popular supermarket chains in Kyiv and Irpen.
The most popular items are bread and water. As one post notes, demand for food is increasing due to residents’ concerns that stores may close.
Earlier, information appeared that due to the blackout, some supermarkets may close. Novus stated that not all stores can operate as usual, some Silpo stores have already stopped working. ATB denied rumors about the closure of supermarkets.
At the same time, Prime Minister Yulia Svirydenko assured that the food situation is under control. The government is coordinating efforts with retail chains, and the Ministry of Economy will respond to the chains’ requests.
As it became known, the energy supply situation on the right bank of Kyiv has deteriorated to the level of the left bank.
By the way, in Kyiv, on behalf of the government, high-power generators were deployed to power residents of residential buildings.
