Shmyhal instructed Ukrenergo to strengthen energy links between western and eastern Ukraine.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a working meeting with the management of NEC Ukrenergo, during which he instructed them to improve energy connections between the western and eastern regions of Ukraine.

He announced this on social media.

According to him, it is necessary to increase the technical capacity for importing electricity into Ukraine. This will allow for more efficient transmission of electricity from the west to the east of the country and reduce the duration of outages in regions where the power supply situation remains the most challenging.

“We’re talking about the efficient use of generated and imported electricity, precisely where it’s needed most. This includes both repairs and the further development of power grids,” the minister emphasized.

Shmygal also identified among the priority tasks the reduction of the volume of reporting and bureaucratic procedures thanks to already implemented digital solutions, the development, together with the State Special Transport Service, of mechanisms for the rapid repair and restoration of power grids and substations near the front line, strengthening the protection of substations with the help of shelters, electronic warfare and air defense systems, as well as
