Shot Ukrainian prisoners: Russian soldier sentenced to life imprisonment

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko announced that the court has sentenced a Russian soldier involved in the execution of Defense Forces servicemen.
He wrote about this on social media.
Thus, Serhiy Tuzhilov, call sign “Altai”, received a life sentence for committing war crimes. The court found him guilty of cruel treatment of prisoners of war, combined with premeditated murders committed by a group of individuals in a prior conspiracy.
As noted, the convicted person was the commander of the grenade launcher detachment of the motorized rifle company of the 82nd motorized rifle regiment of the 69th motorized rifle division of the Russian Armed Forces. After the second invasion of the Kharkiv region, he occupied the territory of the Vovchansky aggregate plant.
In June 2024, a Ukrainian soldier, disoriented, found himself in an enemy position. He surrendered. After that, the Russians passed the information to the command, and in return received an order to kill the prisoner.
“It was Tuzhilov who suggested the executioner, gave detailed instructions, chose the place of execution, which was a checkpoint on the territory of the plant, and personally supervised the execution — the execution of the Ukrainian defender with a shot to the head,” the report says.
The following month, two more Ukrainian defenders were captured by the Russians. After interrogation, the occupiers executed them.
It is noted that Tuzhilov personally participated in the murder – together with others they developed a plan and each shot the prisoners in the back of the head.
The crimes became known after the de-occupation of the plant’s territory in September 2024 and the capture of the occupiers, including Altay. Prosecutors immediately recorded all the circumstances of the crimes and collected evidence.
During the court hearing, the defendant insisted that he was following an order, however, according to Kravchenko, this was a deliberate war crime and a violation of the customs of warfare.
“This case is not about the complexity of the evidence or about legal constructs. It is about the fact that even war has limits. And that these limits were deliberately, consistently and repeatedly violated. It is about what Ukraine is fighting for. And how we fundamentally differ from the enemy,” the Prosecutor General noted.

By the way, Russian occupation forces shot a Ukrainian prisoner of war in the Bakhmut district of the Donetsk region.
Earlier , Russian military personnel executed a captured soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during fighting in the Pokrov direction.
