Sick leave may affect bookings: Pension Fund clarifies
The Pension Fund of Ukraine reported that sick pay is included in an employee’s salary when registering for mobilization. However, there is an important nuance – only the part of sick pay that is accrued in the month for which the employer reports is taken into account.
PFU published this information in its letter dated June 27, 2025.
It specifies that salary data, including sick pay, is taken from the tax report – Appendix D1. If part of the sick pay falls on the current month, it is taken into account in the total amount of earnings for this period.
This is important for confirming reservations for military personnel. According to current regulations, in order for an employee to be booked or to extend their reservation, they must be paid at least 20,000 hryvnias per month (this is 2.5 minimum wages as of July 2025).
However, experts point out that if an employee is sick for a long time, the total amount of salary for the month may be less than required. And this can create risks when extending the reservation.
The rule on the mandatory “salary of at least 20 thousand” does not apply to certain categories – in particular, state and municipal enterprises, companies from “Diya City”, religious organizations, energy companies, emergency services, and critical infrastructure enterprises.
The PFU advises employers to carefully monitor the salaries of reserved employees — even during periods of illness — to avoid problems with documents.
Recall that from April 4, 2025 , insured Ukrainians will be able to receive benefits for temporary disability, as well as in connection with pregnancy and childbirth, not only at their main place of work, but also at a part-time job.
As reported, employees of strategically important enterprises that ensure the functioning of critical sectors of the economy may be reserved from mobilization. However, if such an employee is wanted by a territorial recruitment center (TCC), he must first be removed from the wanted list and only then submit documents for reservation.
