Chinese companies are expanding their presence in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, including Donbas and Crimea. There, the introduction of payments in yuan and the development of infrastructure with the participation of Chinese businesses are being recorded.

This is reported by The Insider .

According to journalists, about 6,000 Chinese communication stations are already operating in the occupied territories, and local banks transfer payments in yuan. It is also noted that there are about 80 bank branches in Donbas where transactions with this currency are available.

It is separately indicated that the activities of Chinese companies are carried out through private intermediaries.

“If the official state structures of the PRC seem to stay away, then medium-sized private businesses are given the go-ahead to organize state projects in the occupied territories of Ukraine,” said Andriy Dikhtyarenko, editor of Realna Gazeta.

Journalists note that industrial facilities in the occupied territories operate using Chinese equipment and components. In particular, these include mines, factories, and quarries that use equipment of Chinese origin.

“The restoration of industry in the occupied territories is already being carried out with Chinese money,” the journalists note.

There is also activity reported in Crimea’s port infrastructure. According to the material, the presence of Chinese vessels is recorded, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expresses protests against the entry of foreign-flagged vessels into Sevastopol.

The material emphasizes that China is interested in developing logistics and access to the region’s resources, in particular rare earth metals.

As previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated the need to involve China in the process of ending the war, emphasizing that Beijing has leverage over the supply of dual-use components to Russia.

Subsequently, China stated that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, it has been advocating peace negotiations and allegedly making efforts to end the hostilities.
