The Ukrainian Defense Forces are effectively conducting search and strike and counterstrike operations, as well as stabilizing the situation on the southern sections of the front.
This was announced during a telethon by National Guard spokesman Ruslan Muzychuk.
According to him, in recent months the enemy has been counting on “sudden advances” in the Oleksandrivka and Hulyaipil directions.
Currently, the pace of fighting remains high. This is particularly affected by the terrain, which is different from the industrial zone of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
The Russians tried to create the conditions for expanding the “gray zone” and conducting offensive operations. However, despite the enemy’s attempts, the Defense Forces managed to stabilize the situation.
“The number of infantry groups involved in the assaults is quite large. However, in recent weeks, there have been no large mechanized assaults here,” Muzychuk noted.
Instead, the enemy actively uses many drones of various types, taking advantage of the lack of terrain differences and sparse development.
Earlier, the fighters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces broke through the defense line of the Russian occupiers in the Oleksandrivka direction . Thanks to this, the Ukrainian troops thwarted the enemy’s plans for a further offensive and opened a bridgehead for tactical advancement.
As a reminder, since the end of January 2026, Ukrainian units have regained control of 400 sq. km of territory and eight settlements in the South.
As is known, taking advantage of favorable conditions, after blocking Starlink terminals and the Telegram messenger for Russians, the Ukrainian military began to conduct counterattacks on the border of the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions.
By the way, the Defense Forces managed to push back the Russians near the settlements of Ternove, Vyshneve, and Verbove in the Oleksandrivka direction.
