People’s Deputy from the European Solidarity faction, Viktoria Siumar, during the parliamentary discussion of Denys Shmyhal’s candidacy for the position of Minister of Energy – First Deputy Prime Minister, called on the authorities, instead of making powerful and positive promises, to finally engage in systematic work to protect the energy sector and develop decentralized generation.

“It hurts to read the news, it hurts to imagine the situation millions of Ukrainians, millions of Kyivans are in today. Priyrpinia was broken up again literally last night, plus 5 in apartments, plus 10 at most in schools. Honestly, we never heard what was done to prevent such a catastrophe from happening. Because it was necessary to predict the enemy’s strikes,” Siumar is convinced.

“When I look at the former prime minister, I wonder if he now feels responsible for the fact that the country was completely unprepared for this for 4 years,” the MP noted.

“Today, the country is held in the hands of those energy workers and utility workers who are now literally thawing the pipes, as well as soldiers in the trenches. And it would be much easier for them if there were no “Mindich schemes” at Energoatom, if the “two-bit” did not go to Moscow, but went to strengthen Ukrainian energy facilities. It would be much easier for these people if we created maneuverable gas generation. We, the “European Solidarity” team, have been talking about this since 2022. Then we should have started preparing for it,” Viktoriya Siumar reminded.

“Today we are listening to very good words. Again, there is something about power, restoration instead of a real program. We did not see a real program from an amateur expert – we did not see it from the former Prime Minister of Ukraine, who knows exactly how such documents are prepared,” the deputy said.

“We need to stop being a positive blogger. We need to stop trying to come up with nice words about resilience and indomitability every day. We need to build systems so that people in Ukraine finally have light and warmth in the cold,” Viktoriya Syumar urged.
