The introduction of the 18th package of EU sanctions against Russia has been blocked due to the positions of Slovakia and Hungary.
A diplomat from one of the key EU states reported this in a commentary to European Pravda.
During the EU ambassadors’ meeting on June 27, it was these two countries that spoke out against the approval of the new package of restrictions.
A return to discussion of the sanctions package is expected no earlier than July 3, when a visit by a European Commission delegation to Bratislava is scheduled.
Let us recall that French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot expressed hope that the European Commission will present the 18th package of sanctions against Russia by the end of June.
By the way, the European Union is considering the possibility of disconnecting more than 20 Russian banks from the international SWIFT system as part of a new package of sanctions against the Russian Federation.
Earlier it became known that the 18th package of sanctions from the EU will include companies from China, the UAE and Hong Kong .
