Slovakian police have launched an investigation into Prime Minister Robert Fico on suspicion of treason and a number of other crimes. One of the grounds for the investigation is the interruption of emergency power supplies to Ukraine.
This was announced by Bronislaw Greling, leader of the opposition party “Freedom and Solidarity.” He said he filed a corresponding petition a month ago, which was supported by more than 13,000 people.
The appeal also accuses the prime minister of abuse of power, dereliction of duty, inhumane treatment, and other possible offenses. Key incidents include the decision to cut off electricity supplies to Ukraine.
According to Greling, the materials have already been transferred from the Prosecutor General’s Office to the regional office, and subsequently to the police. He emphasized that he considers Fico a suspect in serious crimes and commended law enforcement for taking up the investigation.
