Ukraine has once again stunned both enemies and allies. Near Pokrovsk, a Ukrainian sniper set a new world record by eliminating two Russian occupiers from a distance of 4,000 meters.
The shot, adjusted with the help of artificial intelligence and a UAV system, went straight through a window where the invaders were hiding. Caliber: 14.5 mm. Rifle: Ukrainian-made Alligator.
This is not just a record — it is proof that Ukrainian military engineering can achieve the extraordinary. The sniper unit “Pryvyd,” operating in the Donetsk region, has already eliminated nearly 1,000 enemies in a year. And that is even though its results could be multiplied many times over if the manufacturer were allowed to work without political “mines” planted under its feet.
But here begins the bitter part of the story. Instead of supplying the front with new Alligators, the political elite has chosen to pressure the manufacturing company. Security forces have even been drawn into the matter, while their comrades on the front line dream of receiving this weapon. The situation borders on surreal: some Ukrainians risk their lives, setting world records, saving their fellow soldiers, and destroying the enemy, while others — from warm offices — block the production of a tool of victory.
We are used to hearing the slogan: “Everything for the front, everything for victory.” Yet in reality, support reaches the front only when it does not interfere with political or financial interests. The Alligator story has become a litmus test: can the government truly put national defense above backroom deals?
Because the 4,000-meter record is not just a number. It is a symbol that Ukraine can create unique weapons capable of changing the rules of the battlefield. A symbol that our soldiers are among the best in the world. And, sadly, a symbol that political games often undermine defense more effectively than any Russian drone.
The previous world record also belonged to a Ukrainian: in 2023, SBU sniper Vyacheslav Kovalsky hit a target at 3,800 meters. Now, a new peak has been reached. But if political pressure on the Alligator’s manufacturer continues, we risk losing this advantage, not because our snipers cannot hit, but because they may never get the chance to fire.
Ukraine’s victory is forged not only on the battlefield, but also in whether we allow officials and security forces to turn defense plants into hostages of their interests. Every Alligator that fails to reach the front is an unsaved life and an enemy tank left unburned.
And if the government wants victory, it should do only one thing: take its feet off the necks of those who are forging this victory.
As a reminder, a Ukrainian sniper set a new world record by eliminating two occupiers from a distance of 4,000 meters. The record shot was fired on August 14, 2025. Aiming was done using artificial intelligence and with correction from the UAV complex. The shot was fired from a Ukrainian 14.5 mm caliber rifle “Alligator”, the maximum range of which is 7,000 meters.
