Snow and up to -3 °C: rescuers warn tourists about the danger in the Carpathians

Carpathian rescuers are warning tourists about winter conditions in the highlands and urging them not to go hiking without proper preparation. Deteriorating weather can make even familiar routes dangerous.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Ivano-Frankivsk region.

The State Emergency Service noted that, despite the autumn season, winter conditions have already set in in the highlands. Therefore, before traveling, tourists are advised to take into account the weather forecast, choose a route according to their own physical fitness and experience, and take care of the necessary clothing and equipment.

As of 08:00, cloudy weather was observed on Mount Pip Ivan Chornohirsky. The wind was westerly, its speed was 3 m/s, and the air temperature dropped to -3 °C.

Rescuers emphasize that in adverse weather conditions, it is better to abandon the hike in the mountains and postpone the trip to another day.

It was previously reported that the first snow fell in the Carpathians. On Mount Pip Ivan, the temperature dropped to -1 °C on the morning of September 22.
