On the eve of the New Year holidays, one of the most famous ski resorts in Ukraine – Bukovel – found itself in the grip of heavy snowfalls. The intense bad weather turned the access roads into a real test for drivers: traffic slowed down significantly, and in some areas there were long traffic jams. Due to high snowdrifts, cars barely moved forward, and some of them got stuck on the road.

Videos and photos showing snowy mountain slopes, working special equipment, and difficult skiing conditions are being actively shared on social media. Tourists are sharing footage of evening skiing and at the same time warning others about the difficult situation on the roads.

A large amount of precipitation, combined with stable frosts, allowed the resort to fully launch the winter season. The ski slopes began to receive visitors on December 28, although the start of the season this year took place later than usual – due to warm weather and a lack of snow at the beginning of winter.

At the same time, bad weather remains a serious challenge. According to tourists, before the holidays, there are many kilometers of queues of cars at the entrances to Bukovel.

“The road to Bukovel is practically closed before the New Year. Plan your trip in advance and be prepared for delays,” social media users write.

Forecasters predict that frosts will only intensify in early January. The State Emergency Service reports that in mountainous areas the air temperature reaches -17 degrees, in particular on Mount Pip Ivan. There is cloudy weather with clearings and a strong southwest wind at a speed of 15–17 m/s.

Rescuers emphasize that such weather conditions pose a real threat to life and health, so tourists should be extremely careful and not go to the mountains without proper preparation.
