Sochi attacked by drones near Abkhazia, petrochemical plant on fire in Sterlitamak
On the night of September 4, drones attacked several important facilities in Russia. Near Sochi, a series of explosions caused a fire in the area of a Russian air defense division, and an oil depot caught fire. In Sterlitamak, Bashkortostan, a fire broke out on the territory of a petrochemical plant after the attack.
OSINT analysts from ASTRA, monitoring Telegram channels, and Russian regional resources are reporting on strikes on Russian targets.
A series of explosions were heard in Sochi at night. According to an analysis of videos released by eyewitnesses, the fire occurred in the area of the Sirius federal territory near the Psou River, near the border with Abkhazia. This is where, according to OSINT analysts, the Russian S-300 or S-400 anti-aircraft missile system is located.
Thus, the Russian air defense system covering the Sochi area could have been hit. The exact type of complex and the extent of its damage have not yet been determined.
Separately, a fire was reported at an oil depot in Sochi. Local residents filmed a large flame and a thick column of smoke that could be seen for a considerable distance. Russian authorities confirmed the fire at the oil depot, but said there were no initial casualties.
Drones also reached Sterlitamak in Bashkortostan. After the explosions, a glow and thick smoke were observed over the city.
According to Russian and Ukrainian monitoring channels, the Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant was hit. The enterprise produces synthetic rubbers, antioxidants, and fuel components.
There is no information yet on the extent of damage to the plant and possible casualties.
The Sterlitamak plant is an important enterprise in the Russian petrochemical industry. Therefore, the consequences of the attack for its operations can only become clear after the damage is assessed.
As reported, the Ukrainian Defense Forces on Monday, September 1, struck the Novatek-Ust-Luga production complex in Slobidka, Leningrad Region, Russia.
