Soldiers were laying paving stones and repairing the commander’s house: abuses in a military unit were exposed in the Lviv region

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have exposed the deputy commander of a military unit in the Lviv region, who engaged his subordinates in performing private work. Instead of duty, the soldiers laid paving stones, repaired the officer’s house, and erected monuments.

This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.

According to the investigation, the official sent military personnel to help an acquaintance of his who needed workers to lay paving stones. At his request, the commander “allocated” several subordinates who were actually working at civilian facilities.

During March – September 2025, these servicemen, receiving financial support from the unit, performed work at several facilities in the Lviv region. The orders were carried out through contracts between the entrepreneur and territorial communities.

In addition, it was established that during his leave, the officer involved three subordinates in the renovation of his house in Vinnytsia. They also installed monuments on the graves of his parents.

The official also obstructed the execution of the order of the high command to send one of the servicemen to the combat zone, inciting him to leave the unit without permission.

The deputy commander was informed of suspicion under Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – abuse of power or official authority by a military official. The sanction of the article provides for up to five years of imprisonment.

The suspect was given a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to post bail in excess of UAH 1 million. He was also removed from his position. The case is being handled by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense of the Western Region.

By the way, in the Donetsk region, an officer of a military unit used subordinates not for service, but for his own business for more than two years . Instead of performing combat missions, the soldiers prepared and sold shawarma in the Pokrovsky district.

Earlier, law enforcement officers detained the deputy rector of the Bohdan Khmelnytsky National Academy of the State University of Ukraine, who was forcing his subordinates to build him a house .

The day before, in the Odessa region , SBI officers exposed a military unit commander who was involving four subordinates in the renovation of his own apartment .

We will remind you that investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation, together with the SBU and the National Police, documented a case in the Ternopil region, where a platoon commander forced his subordinate to perform construction work at family facilities, while simultaneously issuing him “combat” payments .
