From 2027, some women will not be able to apply for a pension immediately after reaching the age of 60 due to increased insurance experience requirements. To retire at 60, it will be necessary to have at least 34 years of insurance experience.

This is reported by the Pension Fund.

The Pension Fund reminded that the retirement age for women is not changing, but the right to a pension at 60 depends on the presence of the necessary insurance experience. From 2027, this will require at least 34 years of insurance experience.

In the absence of such experience, the right to a pension will arise later. In particular, at the age of 63, a pension will be available if there is at least 24 years of insurance experience, and at the age of 65 – if there is at least 15 years of insurance experience.

The Pension Fund notes that for many women, the decisive factor is the number of years during which insurance contributions were paid. The accumulation of insurance experience can be affected by breaks in work, in particular due to caring for children, elderly or sick relatives, part-time employment or unofficial work.

The annual increase in insurance length requirements is provided for by pension legislation and is part of the pension reform. By 2028, the minimum insurance length for retirement at 60 years should increase to 35 years.

The Pension Fund recommends checking your insurance experience in advance, especially periods of work before 2004, when accounting was mainly conducted using paper work books.

By the way, in August 2026, certain categories of Ukrainians will receive a one-time cash payment for Independence Day. The amount of assistance will depend on the recipient’s status and will range from 650 to 3,100 hryvnias.
