South Korea recalls ambassador from Ukraine after scandal with DPRK prisoners

The South Korean government has decided to recall its ambassador to Ukraine, Park Ki-chang, amid a diplomatic dispute between Kyiv and Seoul.
This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea.
“The government has decided to recall the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine,” the official statement says.
At the same time, Seoul stated that they hope for a peaceful resolution of unresolved issues between the two countries and will continue consultations with the Ukrainian side.
The decision was a continuation of a diplomatic dispute that arose after President Volodymyr Zelensky publicly announced the transfer of two captured North Korean soldiers to South Korea.
Seoul argued that the information should have remained confidential to protect the military personnel themselves and their families in North Korea. The Ukrainian side denied the existence of a non-disclosure agreement.
Recall, South Korea stated that it considers Ukraine’s apology insufficient and is considering recalling the ambassador . Now this decision has been officially made.
Seoul previously summoned a Ukrainian diplomat over a dispute over North Korean prisoners . At the time, South Korea demanded explanations and apologies from Kyiv.
