Spain is preparing a new aid package for Ukraine worth one billion euros

Spain plans to provide Ukraine with about a billion euros in aid. This was stated by Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Álvarez, who specified that this is a broad support package.

Some of the funds will be used to purchase weapons for the Ukrainian army, including through the US PURL program. The rest will go to generators and other equipment needed to get through the winter and minimize the consequences of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.
Albarez stressed that Spain is making these decisions in light of the risk of further massive Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy system. He also said that Madrid has a long-term commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defense and sovereignty and will continue to do so for as long as necessary.
The minister recalled that last year Spain had already allocated about a billion euros for military equipment for Ukraine. The current aid package, he said, will be similar in scale.
It was previously reported that IFC and the EBRD are investing $50 million in the Ukraine Recovery Fund, created by the investment company Dragon Capital.
As a reminder, the International Monetary Fund has offered Ukraine a new credit program worth $8 billion.
