Special Operation “Forrest Gump”: NABU and SAPO reveal details of searches involving MPs and high-ranking officials of the Special Operation Unit

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau is conducting investigative actions as part of a special operation called “Forrest Gump.” At present, the NABU is not officially disclosing the names of the suspects and other details of the investigation, promising to provide more information later.
According to LB’s sources, investigative actions are being carried out, in particular, on the deputy head of the President’s Office, Iryna Mudra. At the same time, the anti-corruption authorities have not yet provided official confirmation of her status in the case.
The publication’s sources also report that the proceedings may involve several former and current representatives of the People’s Party of Ukraine. Among them are former MP Maksym Mykytas, who is a defendant in another case, as well as current MP Vadym Stolar.
According to “Ukrainian Pravda”, Stolar is currently outside Ukraine.
Later, NABU announced that the special operation was called “Forrest Gump” and released a 47-second teaser of the investigation. It includes, in particular, a recording of a conversation between an unknown man:
“We have ‘Saving Private Ryan.’ Only a moron can write off his children for stealing money and paying for their education. That’s why Forrest Gump.”
In addition, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak and journalists from Economic Truth stated that officials of the state-owned Sense Bank may be involved in the case.
According to Zheleznyak, the bank was allegedly used as a channel to transfer part of the funds for the bail of former minister Herman Galushchenko. According to the investigation, Galushchenko could have spent part of the illegally obtained funds on his son’s education in Switzerland.
Previously, Ukrainska Pravda reported that those involved in the Midas case could have influenced the election of members of the supervisory board of Sense Bank.
Currently, NABU is not disclosing the full list of those involved and the circumstances of the case. The Bureau promises to provide more details later.
It was previously reported that NABU and SAPO are conducting a large-scale special operation to expose a criminal organization that, according to investigators, operated under the leadership of a current and former People’s Deputies of Ukraine. Its activities may have involved high-ranking officials of the President’s Office and other individuals.
