Special Operation “Requiem”: Large-scale drug trafficking group exposed in Ukraine

In Ukraine, prosecutors have filed an indictment against members of a network for the production and sale of psychotropic substances. According to the investigation, the organizers have established a full cycle of production and sale of psychotropic substances throughout the country.

This is reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The investigation established that two residents of Cherkasy region, aged 31 and 32, organized illegal activities that included the purchase of precursors, production and sale of the psychotropic substance alpha-PVP in various regions of Ukraine.

One of the defendants ordered precursors and chemical reagents over the internet, using cryptocurrency to disguise financial transactions. The other was responsible for organizing the work of drug laboratories, manufacturing psychotropic drugs, transporting them, and selling them, including in particularly large quantities.

Finished products were distributed in bulk through logistics companies, as well as through so-called “bookmarks”.

The group’s activities were exposed and stopped during the all-Ukrainian special operation “Requiem”, which took place in May last year.

During the searches, law enforcement officers seized over 10,000 liters of precursors and chemicals. According to investigators, this volume could be enough to produce over 8,000,000 doses of psychotropic drugs.

The sanctions of the incriminated articles provide for up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
