A guy was detained in Kyiv who, for a reward, collected and transmitted data about energy facilities located in the capital.
This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
He turned out to be a 21-year-old resident of the Khmelnytskyi region, who met a representative of the military intelligence of the Russian General Staff on a social network in the fall.
His task was to collect and transmit to the Russians data on the location of military facilities and thermal power plants in Kyiv.
Law enforcement officers detained the suspect near one of the capital’s thermal power plants while he was filming the facility on behalf of the enemy.
As noted, after his detention, the young man asked to be included in the exchange list and sent to Russia.
The defendant was charged with treason committed during martial law. He faces 15 years in prison or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The court has already chosen a preventive measure in the form of arrest for the suspect.
Earlier, the SBU and the National Police detained two foreigners who were recruited by the Russian GRU to commit arson in western Ukraine.
As a reminder, the SBU detained a Russian corrections officer in Bukovina who was preparing new Russian strikes on Chernivtsi.
