Strengthening the infantry, changes in contracts in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and response to the SZCH: results of the meeting between Zelensky and Defense Minister Fedorov

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the preparation of solutions to strengthen the infantry, the contract system in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and to respond to the unauthorized abandonment of units. According to him, the measures should be practical and effective, and a significant increase in Russian losses is already being recorded.

The President reported that the relevant decisions are being prepared based on the results of the report by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov. According to Zelensky, the key areas are strengthening the infantry, improving the contract system, and responding to cases of NWCH.
“In particular, we are preparing solutions to strengthen the Ukrainian infantry, the contract system in the army, and the response to the SZCH – the measures must be such that they will actually work,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Separately, the president provided data on the losses of Russian troops in March. According to him, they were the largest for the entire time of the full-scale war and exceeded 35,000 people.
“Only thanks to the strikes of our drones, 33,988 Russian soldiers were killed or seriously wounded, and another 1,363 occupiers were eliminated thanks to artillery and other strikes,” he noted.
Zelensky added that all these losses have confirmation, including video recording of each hit. He also reported on the increase in the effectiveness of destroying Russian air defense systems, in particular, 274 such systems were hit during March.
According to the president, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, together with the Armed Forces, will prepare a detailed report for March, which will be partially made public. He also stressed that Ukraine is ready to share relevant data with international partners.
The day before, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported on the improvement of the situation on the front, according to British intelligence. According to him, Ukraine has a positive balance between liberated and captured territories.
It was previously reported that Ukrainian troops advanced near Sloviansk and on the Kostyantynivka-Druzhkivka tactical direction during March 31 and April 1. At the same time, Russian forces continue attacks and infiltration attempts on these sections of the front.
By the way, the Ukrainian military has already liberated 480 square kilometers of territory in the Oleksandrivka direction.
