On the morning of Tuesday, October 7, Russian forces launched a drone strike on the city of Sumy, targeting a civilian infrastructure facility.

This was announced by the acting mayor Artem Kobzar and the head of the Sumy Oblast Administrative District Council , Oleh Hrygorov .

According to them, two powerful explosions were heard in the city, which occurred in the Zarichany district.

“The enemy attacked an infrastructure facility with strike drones. Currently, specialists are examining the area and recording the damage. A headquarters is being deployed to eliminate the consequences of the attack,” Grigorov said.

The shelling caused power outages, leaving parts of the city without electricity. Residential buildings were also damaged – some had their windows broken. About 50 windows were damaged in nearby high-rise buildings.

According to local authorities, there were no civilian casualties.

“Preliminarily, there were no casualties. All services are working on the scene, the situation is being monitored,” Kobzar noted.

Rescuers, energy workers, and utility services are working at the scene of the attack to eliminate the consequences of the attack and restore power supply.

Recall, on the night of Tuesday, October 7, Russian troops carried out a massive attack with Shahed strike drones on Kharkiv and Poltava regions .

The day before, Russian troops shelled the village of Chornobayvka in the Kherson region . Three civilians were injured. Among the injured was an 18-year-old girl who was injured while at the stadium.
