Prices for sunflower and sunflower oil in Ukraine exceed world prices due to low stocks, but the new season may reduce export demand.
This was reported by the Electronic Grain Exchange of Ukraine.
“In Ukraine, at the end of the 2024/25 MY, there is a shortage of sunflower oil supplies, caused by a limited supply of sunflower and the transition of most plants to processing soybeans and rapeseed. Against this background, domestic demand prices for crude sunflower oil have increased to $1,160-1,200/t, while export demand prices are $1,135-1,145/t for deliveries to the port in August and $1,100/t for deliveries in September,” the report says.
The asking prices for August deliveries of sunflower oil are:
- to India $1210-1220/t;
- to China – $1,150/t;
- to EU countries – $1200-1220/t.
The forecast for sunflower production in Ukraine is 13.5-14 million tons.
According to Oil World’s forecast, global sunflower production in 2025/26 MY will increase by 4.2 million tons or 7.6% compared to the previous year, from 55.1 to 59.3 million tons.
It was previously reported that since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has exported 15 million tons of Ukrainian grain from the occupied territories .
