Svitolina beats Swiontek to reach WTA 1000 final against Gauff
Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina reached the final of the prestigious WTA 1000 tournament in Rome. In the semifinal match, the Ukrainian defeated Polish tennis player Iga Świątek in three sets.
The match turned out to be difficult. Svitolina won the first set 6:4, lost the second 2:6, but confidently won the third set 6:2. This was the third victory over Świątek in her career for the Ukrainian tennis player.
On her way to the final of the tournament in Rome, Svitolina also defeated Noemi Basiletti, Haley Baptiste, Nikola Bartunkova and Elena Rybakina.
In the final, the Ukrainian will face American tennis player Coco Gauff, who is currently ranked fourth in the world. Svitolina has previously played against Gauff five times and won three. This year, the Ukrainian defeated the American twice – at the Australian Open and the tournament in Dubai.
