Svitolina knocked out the world number two and made it to the semifinals of Indian Wells

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina reached the semifinals of the WTA 1000 Indian Wells tournament in the United States.

In the quarterfinals, the Ukrainian defeated the world’s second-ranked Iga Swiatek from Poland in a tense match. The match lasted 2 hours and 10 minutes and ended with Svitolina’s victory in three sets — 6:2, 4:6, 6:4.

This was the sixth face-to-face meeting between the tennis players, and the Ukrainian won for the second time.

In the semifinals of the tournament, Svitolina will play the winner of the match between Jessica Pegula from the United States and Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan.
