Svitolina lost to Minnen in three sets: Ukraine and Belgium will play the deciding doubles match.

The Ukrainian national team failed to advance to the Billie Jean King Cup semifinals early. In the second leg of the quarterfinal, Elina Svitolina lost to Belgian Greet Minnen in three sets.

The Ukrainian spent 2 hours and 10 minutes on the court, and after the defeat the score in the match became 1:1.

The match started poorly for Svitolina, with Minnen breaking early and taking a 3-0 lead. However, the Ukrainian fought back to take a 5-4 lead. The set went to a tiebreak, where Svitolina prevailed, 7-6.

In the second set, the Belgian was again the first to break. Svitolina tried to turn the game around, but Minnen held on to her advantage and tied the match at 6-4.

The deciding set was evenly matched for much of the match. With the score tied at 4-4, Minnen won two games in a row to secure a 6-4 lead.

Thus, the score in the quarterfinal between Ukraine and Belgium became 1:1. Angelina Kalinina brought the Ukrainian team its first victory.

The third doubles match will determine the semifinal berth. Ukraine is expected to be represented by Lyudmyla Kichenok and Anhelina Kalinina. In the quarterfinals, the teams will play two singles matches and one doubles match.
