The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is preparing a reform to increase the financial support of military personnel and define clearer terms of service. It is planned to present it in the coming weeks.

This is reported by LB.ua with reference to a comment by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svirydenko.

“The Ministry of Defense is currently preparing a reform that will provide for an increase in additional payments for military personnel,” Svyrydenko explained.

She emphasized that this involves significant funds, so it is necessary to carefully calculate the financing mechanism to guarantee uninterrupted payments both this year and in the future.

“This reform will also provide for the definition of more specific terms of service. All of this is on the side of the Ministry of Defense. In the coming weeks, we are ready to present this reform and begin its implementation,” the Prime Minister noted.

In early May, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the reform of the Ukrainian army.

According to him, the reform provides for a significant increase in the financial support of the military. The minimum payments will be 30 thousand hryvnias, and servicemen performing combat missions will receive significantly more.

It is also planned to strengthen the contract system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which will allow for clearer terms of service and ensure a gradual transition to a new model of unit staffing.

In addition, the possibility of dismissal from service for mobilized military personnel is envisaged.

Previously, “Pryamiy” reported that during a meeting of the conciliation council of faction leaders with the participation of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, Petro Poroshenko raised the issue of increasing the financial support of the military, determining the terms of service, and returning UAH 40 billion to the budget of the Ministry of Defense.

Also in June, Ukrainian military personnel will be paid a cash allowance for May . The payment system remains unchanged, and the amount of additional payments depends on the conditions of service, tasks performed, and participation in combat operations.
