Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko held a conversation with the candidate for the position of Director of the Bureau of Economic Security, Oleksandr Tsyvinsky, stating that he would pass a polygraph test.
She wrote about this in her Telegram channel.
“The competition commission made a decision, and the Government received the results of additional inspections. We are all interested in ensuring that BEB becomes an effective institution and has real trust – the trust of business and the entire Ukrainian society,” the Prime Minister’s statement said.
According to her, during the conversation they agreed on a way to resolve “questions and doubts in a civilized manner,” adding that they also agreed to take a polygraph test.
Svyridenko emphasized that this way we will be able to avoid any manipulation and move on.
At the same time, the official expressed hope that a decision will be made next week that will renew the work of the BEB.
Subsequently, Oleksandr Tsyvinsky confirmed the conversation with the Prime Minister, noting that it was constructive.
“We agreed to act openly and clearly to remove all questions and move forward,” he concluded.
Earlier, the European Commission publicly defended the results of the competition for the position of head of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine (BEU) , which was canceled by the government. Brussels insists that Kyiv is obliged to adhere to a transparent appointment procedure, as this is part of its obligations to the EU on the path to membership.
As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers again did not approve the candidacy of Oleksandr Tsyvinsky for the position of Director of the Bureau of Economic Security , despite the official submission of the competition commission and the support of international partners. The commission stated that it was completing its powers and saw no reason for a new competition.
