Sweden has detained a Russian vessel on suspicion of polluting the Baltic Sea.

Swedish law enforcement detained the bulk carrier Hui Yuan on suspicion of dumping waste into the Baltic Sea . The incident occurred while a coast guard aircraft was patrolling the area.
According to the agency, the Panamanian-flagged vessel was dumping coal residue into the water, which may violate environmental laws. The bulk carrier was inspected near Ystad on the morning of April 12 at the request of the prosecutor’s office.
Coast Guard spokesman Daniel Stenling emphasized that Swedish authorities work together to ensure maritime safety and environmental protection. They intervene promptly if suspicious vessel activity is detected.
A preliminary investigation has now been launched in Sweden , and the prosecutor has already initiated hearings on possible violations of environmental regulations.
It is known that Hui Yuan was heading from Russia to the Spanish city of Las Palmas .
It was previously reported that the Boracay “shadow fleet” tanker, suspected of involvement in the launch of drones over Denmark, continued its journey towards the Suez Canal.
As a reminder, the tanker ALTURA was attacked in the Black Sea . According to the Turkish side, it belongs to the so-called “shadow fleet” of Russia and was transporting oil.
