Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson stated the country’s readiness to participate in the formation of security guarantees for Ukraine and all of Europe after a peace agreement is reached.
The politician reported this on social media.
The statement followed a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris, where Ukraine, the United States, and European partners discussed possible paths to peace.
According to Kristersson, Sweden can contribute to maintaining stability, in particular by deploying Gripen fighter jets for aerial surveillance, using maritime resources to clear mines in the Black Sea, and continuing the training of Ukrainian military officers.
At the same time, the head of the Swedish government emphasized that the country’s participation is only possible if a peace agreement is reached, clear rules for the use of multinational forces are in place, and they are officially approved by the Swedish parliament.
Incidentally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he had proposed to US President Donald Trump that Ukraine receive security guarantees for 30-50 years . He stated that the parties have currently agreed on a 15-year guarantee with the possibility of extension.
As reported, the meeting between US Presidents Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy concluded at the Mar-a-Lago private residence in Florida. A final press conference followed.
It should be added that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, ahead of his meeting with US President Donald Trump, stated that important decisions could be made by the end of the year . He stated that this depends on the position of Ukraine’s international partners and the pressure exerted on Russia.
