Sweden joins agreement on Special Tribunal for Russia

The head of the Swedish Foreign Ministry, Maria Malmer Stenergard, announced that Stockholm has joined the agreement on the Special Tribunal to investigate the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
She wrote about this on the social network X.
“Sweden confirmed its intention to join the Agreement on the Special Tribunal to Investigate the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine,” the report says.
The minister emphasized that accession is another step towards the creation of the Special Tribunal, of which Sweden will be among the founders.
“We must ensure accountability for Russia’s crimes against Ukraine,” added Maria Malmer Stenergard.
As is known, a meeting of foreign ministers of the European Union countries was held in Lviv on May 9, 2025 to establish a special tribunal for the Russian Federation for crimes against Ukraine. The coalition gave political approval to the establishment of a special tribunal.
By the way, a group of states to create a special tribunal on the crime of Russian aggression against Ukraine has completed the preparation of technical and legal documents for its launch on the basis of the Council of Europe.
