Sweden joins international arms procurement initiative for Ukraine

The Chief of the Swedish General Staff, Lieutenant General Carl-Johan Edström, announced that Sweden will join the “Danish model” of arms purchases for Ukraine.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It is known that the total assistance from the Swedish government to Ukraine is about $2.8 billion.
“Sweden remains a loyal ally of Ukraine and participates in several coalitions aimed at long-term support for Ukraine’s defense, including armored, aviation, air defense, maritime security, electronic warfare, IT, and demining. Sweden also agreed to further contribute to the “Danish model” of weapons procurement for Ukraine,” the General Staff said in a statement.
In addition, during the meeting, the Ukrainian side informed the Swedish colleagues about the situation on the front, which remains difficult, and possible scenarios for the development of events.
The meeting participants discussed the current needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in particular, in aircraft, anti-aircraft missile systems, armored combat vehicles, missiles, artillery ammunition, material and technical base for developing the infrastructure of training centers, etc.
“The parties agreed that cooperation between the two armies in the interests of the security of the entire European continent will continue and develop,” the General Staff emphasized.
Earlier, the US Senate proposed increasing aid to Ukraine by $50 billion .
