Sweden to provide $200 million in direct aid to Ukraine

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga thanked Sweden for its decision to provide Ukraine with direct budget support, amounting to $200 million, scheduled for 2026.

He wrote about this in X.

Andriy Sybiga announced Sweden’s decision in a post on the social network X. The minister emphasized that the announced aid is direct budget support for Ukraine for the next year.

“Grateful to Sweden for today’s announcement of direct budget support to Ukraine in the amount of $200 million in 2026,” Andriy Sybiga wrote.

The Foreign Minister noted that Sweden has been demonstrating leadership in supporting Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war. According to him, in August, Sweden became the first country to provide $75 million in direct budget support.

“This funding will meet the daily needs of people during the war, including critical public services, energy supply, healthcare, schools, pensions and other payments,” Andriy Sybiga noted.

The Minister also emphasized the importance of consistent support from Sweden.

“We are deeply grateful to Sweden for its determination, support, and unwavering solidarity,” Andriy Sybiga added.

Earlier, the Swedish government announced a new aid package for Ukraine worth over 1.1 billion Swedish kronor (approximately 100 million euros). The funds are aimed at covering the country’s most urgent needs during the winter period and strengthening its resilience in the future.

Recall that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the first Swedish Gripen fighters will arrive in Ukraine next year . This decision will significantly strengthen combat aviation and guarantees of state security.
