In Switzerland, the number of applications for temporary protection from Ukrainian refugees aged 18–22 has increased significantly since the beginning of autumn.

As Swissinfo reports, citing the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration (SEM), after permission to leave Ukraine for young men of this age category came into effect in August, the number of applications in all European countries increased sharply.

According to SEM, at the end of August there were only 3 applications from men aged 18–22 in Switzerland, in September the number of applications increased to 33, then to 77 and reached a maximum of 185 in mid-October.

Overall, young Ukrainian men account for around 30% of all temporary protection applications registered in Switzerland since September. However, there are now signs that the peak of the influx of young Ukrainians into the country has passed.

We would like to remind you that Germany has recorded a significant increase in the number of asylum applications from Ukrainian citizens, with the largest increase among young men aged 18 to 22.

As reported, the Ministry of Social Policy is developing a Strategy for the Return of Ukrainian Citizens Currently Abroad. The document should define the principles of the voluntary return of Ukrainians home and provide state incentives for this process.
